Dexakel is a sterile aqueous injection solution. It’s a low dose Dexa with diuretic Fantastic for race an trainning. Anti-iflammatory glucocorticoid steroid and diuretic that combines Dexamethasone 21 di-Sodium Phosphate and Trichlormethiazide.

 

COMPOSITION:

Dexamethasone phosphate eq. 2 mg dexamethasone   
fillers up to 1 ml.

 

PROPERTIES:

DEXAMETHASONE is a very strong synthetic glucocorticosteroid, the anti-inflammatory effect
of which is 30 times stronger than that of cortisone and 7-10 times stronger than that of prednisolone. In
addition to its anti-inflammatory properties, dexamethasone also exhibits extraordinary anti-allergic, anti-stress and gluconeogenetic properties. 

 

INDICATIONS:

Metabolic processes such as: ketosis in cattle or postpartum toxemia in sheep and sows.
Non-infectious inflammatory processes, especially acute musculoskeletal inflammation, such as: arthritis, periarthritis, tenosynovitis, bursitis, dislocations, inflammation of muscles, bones and tendons.
For acute infectious diseases (eg acute mastitis, metritis, pneumonia) in combination with appropriate antibacterial therapy.
Allergic condition, e.g. asthma, allergic skin lesions (eczema, hives, scabies…), laminitis in horses and cattle, snake bites.
Stress and shock.
Toxemia during the last stage of pregnancy (for 2 – 4 days)

 

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION: 

By intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous (dog) injection:
  Cats, dogs: (0.1-0.2 mg/kg body weight) 0.25-0.5 ml/5 kg 
  Cattle, horses: (2.5-5 mg/100 kg body weight 5-10 ml/400 kg 
  Sheep, goats, calves: (2-4 mg/50 kg) 1-2 ml/50 kg 

If necessary, repeat at 2-day intervals in dogs and cats and 3-4 day intervals in other animals.
To initiate calving in cows (given for 1 week before the birth of calves): (5 mg/100 kg body weight) 2.5 ml/100 kg.
Postpartum toxemia and initiation of calving in sheep and goats: (2.5 mg/10 kg body weight) ± 6 ml/50 kg
Shock therapy: by slow IV injection at a large dose (10-x), repeat after 8-12 hours.
By intra-articular injection: according to the body weight of the animals: 0.25 to 4 ml.

 

CONTRAINDICATIONS, SIDE EFFECTS, WARNINGS:

Contraindications: heart and kidney failure, hypercortisolism (Cushing’s syndrome), diabetes, osteoporosis, viremia, simultaneous vaccination. 
If infection is present or suspected, corticoid therapy should be given along with appropriate antimicrobial therapy (weakening the immune response). 
Since abrupt withdrawal from chronic use can lead to adrenocortical insufficiency (symptoms of hypocortisolism), gradual withdrawal after a long-term course of use is recommended.

STORAGE:
Store in a cool (up to 15°C) place, protected from light.
