For bovine respiratory disease and foot rot:
- Administer by intramuscular or subcutaneous injection at a dose of 1 to 2 mL per 100-pound body weight (BW).
- Administer daily at 24-hour intervals for a total of three consecutive days. Additional treatments may be administered on Days 4 and 5 for animals that do not show a satisfactory response (not recovered) after the initial three treatments.
For BRD only:
- Administer intramuscularly or subcutaneously 2 mL per 100-pound BW every other day on Days 1 and 3 (48-hour interval). Do not inject more than 15 mL per injection site.
- Selection of dosage level and regimen/duration should be based on an assessment by the herd veterinarian.
For acute postpartum metritis:
- Administer by intramuscular or subcutaneous administration at a dose of 2 mL per 100-pound BW.
- Administer at 24-hour intervals for five consecutive days. Do not inject more than 15 mL per injection site.
- Ready-to-use suspension. Shake well before using. Ceftiofur.
To improve ease of use, Excenel RTU EZ is a lower viscosity formulation that improves syringeability. It requires only 60 percent of the force needed to administer the previous formula, particularly beneficial during colder weather.
There are two changes to note when compared to the previous Excenel formula:
Excenel RTU EZ has a four-day meat withdrawal period for cattle.
For swine, do not inject more than 5 mL of Excenel RTU EZ per injection site.
